Vacation is a lovely thing and I really enjoyed the month away, visiting friends and seeing new places. But it’s not so bad being back in the saddle again. The shop is open for business and Tai Chi classes have started up again. For those of you who only know me through my work with needle and thread I want to give bow to tai chi. Practicing and teaching keeps me connected. It keeps me smiling and balanced. It’s almost like being on vacation. Since Mark’s passing tai chi helps me to stay strong and feel the love all around me.
I’ve been hemming quite a few gowns ($60). I’ve been replacing broken jacket zippers ($30). That price should probably be higher. Taking the old zipper out takes time, but I appreciate that many of us are still living on a shoe string despite the wealth all around. I appreciate everyone who takes the time to repair something rather than throw it out.
Speaking of hemming, there’s been quite a bit of that too. Everyone wants to know why pant legs are so long when most of us have shorter legs. I can answer to that. When I had a clothing line I tried to find “medium” as my standard to move up or down from. It doesn’t take long to learn that you can cut extra length off, but you can’t put it back on!
I’m listed on Google “alterations near me” and they require that I list hours. As I work for myself I claim flexible hours. I teach in the morning and sometimes I have other commitments. Please call or text ahead to make an appointment. I look forward to seeing you and hearing about your life.
